Where Was the Division Bell Cocktail Created?

While many cocktails have deep roots stretching back to the 19th century, the Division Bell is relatively young. It was crafted in the early 21st century at the New York City cocktail bar, Mayahuel.

This establishment was a mecca for agave spirit enthusiasts, specializing in tequila and mezcal.

The name “Division Bell” carries with it echoes from the world of music. It shares its title with Pink Floyd’s 1994 album, “The Division Bell.”

While the connection between the cocktail and the album isn’t explicitly made in most accounts, there’s a certain resonance between the smoky depth of mezcal and the contemplative, atmospheric tones of the album.
