The Mezcal Martinez is a riff on the classic Martinez cocktail. Richard Elgar created it and first published it in the Difford’s Guide.

It provides a smokey flavor from the Mezcal but is very well balanced from the sweet vermouth. The Cynar and Luxardo add a subtle but fantastic depth to the drink.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 o Del Maguey Vida

  • 0.5 oz Antica Formula

  • 0.5 oz Cynar

  • 0.25 oz Luxardo Maraschino

  • 2 Dashes Cocoa Bitters

Directions

  • Combine all ingredients into a cocktail mixing glass.
  • Add ice.
  • Stir for 30 seconds.
  • Pour into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass
