Ryan currently makes a living as a research scientist and engineer but has also been: a biologist, sometimes writer, bartender and mixologist, restaurant owner, and a myriad of other things. The only one of those she's ever won an award for is mixology though, as 2019 Iowa Mixologist of the Year. She has an amazing wife, Liz, with whom she co-owned Arcadia Café in Ames from 2011-2019, and a wonderful puppy, Fiona. Now she gets to combine drinking and writing. What more can a girl dream for?
